Our Mission

Green is not just a color. It’s a word you hear so much about these days that you almost get tired of hearing it! For me, living green is about creating a better quality of life for me, my family, and all who enter my tiny realm. It’s about making the best choices for our general health and well-being, creating an environment in which we can thrive, and setting an example for generations to come. We must be conscious of the choices we make, because following each decision is a benefit or consequence.

I am not one of those radical tree hugger types, but I am concerned about our personal environments – home, work, school – that we spend so much time in.  So many technological advances aimed at making things better, faster, etc., have been made in the last century that it’s hard to keep up sometimes. With the introduction of so many products, it’s hard to determine which choices are best,, and that is precisely why I have this site.

Check This Out:

Fact: Over a century ago, the cancer rate was about 1 in 50. Today, 1 in 3 Americans will suffer with cancer, and the  rate is expected to soon reach 1 in 2! Cancer is the #2 killer of adults & the leading cause of death from disease in children. (Environmental Hazards to Children Public Affairs Pamphlets. 1981)

Fact: Since World War II, over 72,000 synthetic (man-made) chemicals have been produced, most of which we use in our homes. The typical American home now contains over SIXTY-THREE hazardous products that together contain hundreds of different chemicals. (World Resources Institute – 1994)

Fact: The incidence of autoimmune disorders such as Lupus, Fibromyalgia and Multiple Sclerosis are increasing annually.

Fact: The asthma rate has tripled in the last 20 years with nearly 30 million Americans currently afflicted (Indoor Air Quality-Consumer Federation of America 1997)

Concerned Yet? Consider This:

Women’s Cancer Risk: A study comparing women who work outside the home with those who work inside, found that the women who work inside the home have a 54% higher risk of developing cancer.   (International Society of Indoor Air Quality and Climate)

If the risk for grown women who have a measure of control over their environment is so high (54%, remember?) what is the risk for those children?

Women’s bodies contain 5 times more toxins than men because of our personal care products alone!

Babies are being born contaminated with pollutants such as pesticides, flame retardants, carcinogens and more, all from their mothers’ exposure to these same pollutants in their personal care and home cleaning products, and other environmental factors.

Together we can:

  • Inform ourselves and others on the dangers around us that are considered commonplace
  • Reform our ways of thinking, cleaning, eating, and managing our lives
  • Transform our homes, schools and workplaces into healthier environments

So many factors influence our quality of life, and it’s hard to know where to start. I will start with what I know, cover what I can, and give you links to the rest. It is only by sharing what we know that we can increase awareness and help others improve their quality of life.

We are here to help you make informed decisions so you can take back your life!
